Giving up for Lent - Veggie - 04-03-2025

Some people use the 40 Days of Lent to give up things that they enjoy - like chocolate or wine.
Lent  starts on March 5th and ends on Thursday April 17th this year.

Are any of you giving anything up?

I'm going to work on my Seed hoarding.  I plan to release 40 out of date packets of seed into the wilderness. One packet or type of seed every day until April 17th.

I’ve had a think about it. No I’m not giving up anything.

There's a niggle in the back of my mind that I should give up eating so much and lose a bit of weight, but that is totally separate from giving anything up for Lent. Nope, I've thought about it too, no self denial here.

I'm going to give up Clutter for 40 days - every day I'll get rid of something useless and unwanted - as well as throwing a packet of seeds a Day. Some of us can multi-task.Wink

I'm not going to give anything up, but I am going to sort out five books each day that I'm prepared to let go! Confused So sort of giving up!

Working in bookshops came with a staff discount so I have quite a few. We're planning on down-sizing in the next few years so a lot of books will have to go.  Plus there are several boxes of ones that I haven't read in my Mum's flat that will have to come here  Rolleyes

There's an English language book exchange shop about forty minutes north of here plus a huge English language book fayre held twice a year up in the Dordogne, so hopefully the majority will find a good home!

You might be on your own with this Veggie, I can't think of anything I'd want to give up.

I'm with you on the decluttering Veggie but it's not an 'extra over' for Lent, it's an ongoing process, every week something goes out of the house. It's losing a bit of impetus though, now the sun's come out. I'd rather be outside than rummaging through cupboards, drawers and the loft.

Not so much getting rid of books, but actually reading the ones I buy every week! No more book buying until after Lent sounds good to me! (I had already made that decision last week) Rolleyes

I'm going to give up prevaricating.

Possibly.

Day 1
Scattered all the old sweet pea seeds and decluttered the toolshed of cardboard boxes. Big Grin
