Pest ID please - JJB - 16-10-2024

I harboured the thought of putting up a picture of P, as the pest but thought better of it   Big Grin

Here's a picture from our local 'Nextdoor' website.  It says the insects are on a Norwegian spruce and elsewhere. I can't find anything on Google about aphids or weevils with a white bum. Can anyone shed any light what they are? Unfortunately I've no further information.

Greater black spruce bark aphid? The egg-laying females get a white band of wax on their bum in autumn.

Top marks, TMTT, for identifying them. I failed dismally - couldn't even be sure how many legs they had!

Spot on I think TMTT,  I've answered the lady who posed the question, no prizes I'm afraid but I'll steal the credit.  Shy
