Sisyrinchium Striatum - Veggie - 25-06-2024 [attachment=7663][attachment=7664] How that for a tongue twister of a name? Its also known as Phaiophleps nigricans!! https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/17398/sisyrinchium-striatum/details I acquired it from someone last year. Its really pretty. Not sure how well it would do in a vase as I haven't the heart to cut any. Its supposed to spread and self seed but don't think its as bad as montbretia. Does anyone else grow it? Shall I save seeds? RE: Sisyrinchium Striatum - Small chilli - 25-06-2024 That’s very pretty. I’d like some of those seeds in the next swap please . Neither of those names are easy to remember……………………., read or spell . RE: Sisyrinchium Striatum - Veggie - 25-06-2024 I grew it years ago - used to call it Sissy. RE: Sisyrinchium Striatum - Small chilli - 25-06-2024 After reading the rhs link. I think they’ll be annuals here. As it doesn’t like wet winters. RE: Sisyrinchium Striatum - Veggie - 25-06-2024 Its pretty wet here too! RE: Sisyrinchium Striatum - Vinny - 25-06-2024 I bet the cider drinking nettle eaters would have problems with aforementioned pronunciation! RE: Sisyrinchium Striatum - Veggie - 25-06-2024 Some cider sipping sybarites say sisyrinchium striatum sounds similar to Somerset syllables sometimes. |
