Pumpkins with edible seeds. - Veggie - 15-06-2024

Some pumpkins have hull-less (or semi-hull-less seeds) which makes them better for eating. Unfortunately, it seems, the actual pumpkin flesh can be stringy and not so good for eating.

Doublyjonah mentioned them at https://gardenandgossip.org/showthread.php?tid=2084&page=6 .

Let's make a list of the varieties we come across - with retailers descriptions.

I feel an experiment coming on - feel free to join me!
I want to see if shop bought edible pumpkin seeds are viable, so I'm going to put some on damp kitchen paper and see if they sprout. If they do, it would save a lot of expense, tracking down the few commercial seeds that are on sale.

I looked into how to hull pumpkin seeds and the internet seemed to suggest that the commercial edible seeds are simply grown from the hull-less variety rather than shelled. That's how I came to have my Triple Treats in the first place. Still not planted out because all my seedlings are pipsqueaks this year...

Besides, her seeds are from Aldi, so...
