What would you grow in a phone box? - Small chilli - 12-03-2024 No I’m not joking! I really want to know what would you grow in a phone box? Because we don’t have much to do at the moment ( if you can’t hear the sarcasm, there’s something wrong with you ![]() ![]() Bobs idea, guess who’s going to end up doing most of it ![]() Anyway plant for a phone box. They will have to be in pots as it’s got a concrete floor. All the glass is still in it. Not got a door at moment. But we know where it is. We were thinking a locked door so nothing gets damaged and it’s stop the door getting damaged in bad weather again. Most phone boxes on mull all look vandalised because doors are missing or hanging off. But it’s the wind, that does it. Obviously whoever (probably me) is looking after the plants will go in daily to water and do whatever needs doing. Suggestions please. Thank you RE: What would you grow in a phone box? - Veggie - 12-03-2024 Great idea, Bob. ![]() I'd go for something trailing, hanging from the roof and something halfway up - its a long time since I've been in a phone box so not sure of the size. There's one near here that's used for a book and seed swap with a notice board that you pin the seed packets to. How about solar fairy lights and some sort of tree - so its could be Christmassy inside! RE: What would you grow in a phone box? - JJB - 12-03-2024 Is there soil around it's outside for climbers. If it's an old fashioned red one I imagine the light levels inside won't be that good but there's this [attachment=7417] RE: What would you grow in a phone box? - Vinny - 12-03-2024 Not gardening related but If it's in the centre of the village a defibrillator would be a worthy addition? Also a lighting system with a map of the vicinity showing areas of interest.? Because of lack of top light,if you wanted to grow stuff in it you would need some sort of propagating lighting in th ceiling? Whatever it was would need to be slow growing and suited to a terranium.
