Harvesting lettuce leaves - doublyjonah - 07-06-2020 Hi all, I'm growing some lettuces from a bargain grocery store seed multipack The varieties were iceberg, little gem, and lollo rossa. I know some lettuce are meant to form heads and others are loose leaf. Is there any reason we couldn't take leaves from all the plants if we don't care about them forming full heads? Thanks! RE: Harvesting lettuce leaves - Veggie - 07-06-2020 No reason at all - pick away to your heart's content! RE: Harvesting lettuce leaves - Bren - 07-06-2020 I've never let any of my lettuce plants form heads much prefer to take a leaf or two of each plant. They seem to last for ages that way. RE: Harvesting lettuce leaves - SarrissUK - 07-06-2020 I pick leaves too, never leave them to head up. They last ages and it's obvious how long they will last too, so it's easy to sow more. It's the only concession sowing I've ever mastered |
