Interesting green flower - Farendwoman - 23-11-2023 Amongst all the dead and dying stuff in the garden I have just spotted this. All the rest are common matricaria (Feverfew). This one is double and green petalled. Interesting - and I like it! Do you think it's a sport - and therefore worth saving seed? Or just a poor suffering little thing that has lost its white petals and is preparing to keel over for winter? RE: Interesting green flower - Small chilli - 23-11-2023 Looks like a chrysanthemum to me. RE: Interesting green flower - Farendwoman - 23-11-2023 Nope... Def a crappy little feverfew RE: Interesting green flower - Farendwoman - 23-11-2023 Well I think so anyway!! RE: Interesting green flower - Veggie - 23-11-2023 Its different! I have lots of the double petalled feverfew (too many) but haven't seen a green one before. If you like it, keep it............but don't send me any seeds. RE: Interesting green flower - Small chilli - 24-11-2023 I did a quick image search [attachment=7230] Some of these are looking very like your green thing. RE: Interesting green flower - Farendwoman - 24-11-2023 Thanks SC - I can see where you're coming from. You could well be right. But I have never in 23 years - and four days of living here grown chrysanthemums of any sort. Got loads of Feverfew though which pops up all over the place. (I can see why Veggie has forbidden me from sending her any!) I'm going to dig it up tomorrow and overwinter it in the greenhouse (unheated) and see what happens. Will report back if survives. I used to have the goldy coloured leaf variety, most came back with the correct colour leaf.... nothing's returned after the big freeze last year. So Ive bought some doubles to start again. They always get mistaken for Chrysanths |
