Antics of a snail - Can the Man - 19-05-2023

today I was in the garden and something caught my eye, it was a cuckoo in the garden, I watched her fly over my hedge. I then noticed something in my buckthorn bush and went to investigate. This bush is about 10m high, and up in the top of it looked like a walnut but on closer investigation it appears to be a snail, about 9 m up the trunk.

Well spotted, Can. I've seen snails on the house wall outside the upstairs windows. Peeping snails. Wink

We often see snails high up when it's hot in the summer Huh
Never seen a cuckoo,  though we hear them.

Female cuckoo looks like a long tall thin thrush, typically it’s the males that have the colour similar to a wood pigeon slightly darker, difficult to spot and differentiate with swallows and swifts at this time.

I think cuckoo’s look very similar to sparrowhawks in flight. Very bird of prey shape. See them all the time during the short breeding season here each year. 3 nearly took my head off last week. To busy squabbling to notice me.
