Help me decide - JJB - 03-05-2023

I have two 6 x 8 gh. One is slightly warmer but more shaded, the other slightly colder but gets more sun.

I usually put the cherry and slightly smaller toms in one and the larger and beefsteak varieties in the other.  Should I put big toms in the sunny but colder gh or the sheltered one?

I’d put a mix of both varieties in both greenhouses and see which varieties do best in each location. Then next year no difficult decisions.

I put bush tomatoes on the sunny side and tall toms on the shaded side of my GHs so that the tall ones don't shade the short ones. IIRC your GHs are side by side so, that would mean putting all the bush ones in one GH on the sunny side and all the tall ones in the other one. Not saying that's a good idea though.

Don't grow bush ones indoors, but I'll think about a mix and match as SC says, nothing to lose, I'll have more tomatoes than I need, whatever I do.

I'd do a bit of both too..

If they all grow to the same height, just bung 'em in. Big Grin
Second thoughts, if you're growing 2 of each variety, put one in each GH then you'll have a better idea of which grows better where.

We also grow a mixture of toms in our sunny greenhouse, never used shading even in last years heat and success rate was good.  Do have 2 sets of double doors either end and self opening roof windows that helps with air circulation.

That might be an experiment for next season. This year I've not got two of each variety, the duplicates are the giveaways

That’s what I’d do as well.
