RE: Big Garden Bird Watch - Small chilli - 24-01-2026 Thanks for the reminder Veggie. I’m doing it now. RE: Big Garden Bird Watch - Veggie - 24-01-2026 I'm waiting for the rain to stop. Hope its before Monday.
RE: Big Garden Bird Watch - Small chilli - 24-01-2026 It won’t be the most accurate count here. As there’s a trailer with lots of very flappy plastic on it keeping most of the birds away. RE: Big Garden Bird Watch - Veggie - 24-01-2026 I don't understand how to tell if I've counted the same bird twice. For example, there may be 8 long tailed tits on the feeders at once and they scatter and return a couple of minutes later. I could end up counting 60 of them in an hour. Doesn't make sense to me. EDIT - I've read the instructions now! Record the most on each species that you see at one time.. RE: Big Garden Bird Watch - Small chilli - 24-01-2026 You just count the largest number you see at any one time. So you would count 8 longtails . Because otherwise. Like you say , you’re probably counting the same birds repeatedly. I’m doing mine again tomorrow. Because my count was pitiful. 1 robin, 1 dunnock RE: Big Garden Bird Watch - JJB - 24-01-2026 I'm going to have another go too, 1 cock pheasant 2 longtails, 2 robins. There's normally more. RE: Big Garden Bird Watch - Bren - 24-01-2026 Just submitted my results, it’s been a dry sunny day here so a fair few birds about. Spotted a Dunnocks, Gold finches, Magpies and Woodpigeons. |
