Breadmakers - JJB - 14-01-2023

My 20-25 yr old JML bread master breadmaker is making an awful sqeaking noise. P has mended it once and it was a devil to get apart and put back together. It's done great service and I can't complain if it dies on me.

As a preemptive shot I'm researching  a new one. I mostly bake wholemeal seeded loaves, not a lot else. Anyone got any recommendations?

I have had two breadmakers and I got rid of them both. I much prefer my Kenwood food mixer and using the oven. Sorry Jen, that's probably not what you want to hear Smile

Look no further than Panasonic bread makers.
We’ve had ours for 8 years so far and love it. We did a lot of research before getting it and 98% of that research pointed to a Panasonic.

Mine's a Panasonic too - don't use it now - too much free sourdough bread available - but I used to use it most days and it never let me down.

Yep - Panasonic in our house too. but I’m with Sariss - prefer the ancient Kenwood mixer and the oven.
husband had the Kenwood before he got me, and we’ve been married 43 years!

OK it looks like a Panasonic is the favourite, I'll look into the various models available now. Wish me luck Smile

Another one who uses a kenwood chef and oven.

RE: Breadmakers - Vinny - 14-01-2023

I had a breadmaker but it gave up the ghost! Sick

It wasn't until after that, that I discovered the pleasure in mking bread the old fashioned way Smile . I enjoy the kneading and proving process as much as the baking. Rolleyes Another advantage is that I can make any type/shape of loaf I like and I am not confined to single size & shape. Huh

PS And it allows me to don my butchers apron or Vinnys Pinny as Veggie calls it! Big Grin

There's hope on the horizon. P has dismantled my old JML cleaned and greased/oiled the bearing and is confident it won't squeak. Tomorrow morning's loaf will be the proof of the pudding (or bread). As it was only £15 in a discount store at least 20 years ago and it has served both mother and I all those years it has done me proud. P said it deserved resurrecting if possible.

Well done, P. Give him an extra slice tomorrow. Big Grin
