Courgette - Shooting Star - Broadway - 21-07-2022 Morning Folks Has anyone grown these, was wondering if you pinch out the growing tip? [attachment=5081] RE: Courgette - Shooting Star - Vinny - 21-07-2022 No idea Danny. never seen a climbing courgette, or even knew there was such an animal? I wonder if they were grown on the bottom whether they would behave similar to pumpkins? I don't pinch out the growing tip ever, but I've not heard it's a bad idea either..? RE: Courgette - Shooting Star - Farendwoman - 24-07-2022 Mine (only one) us planted up against the fruit cage. I’ve had two courgettes from it , but haven’t noticed it trying to climb. I shall have to have another look. RE: Courgette - Shooting Star - Farendwoman - 24-07-2022 Just looked! And yes it is sprawling all along the floor. Going to try to tie it up without snapping it off. Glad I read this post as it has alerted me to check it out . Thanks RE: Courgette - Shooting Star - SarrissUK - 24-07-2022 No, they don't naturally climb, or at least most of them don't. I tie mine to the posts, sticks or climbing frame, but I do it for the space really - they take up so little space if they are trained upwards. RE: Courgette - Shooting Star - Farendwoman - 24-07-2022 Thanks Sariss - I’ll try that! Incidentally the slim little yellow courgettes were lovely! |
