Globe Artichokes - Broadway - 07-04-2022

Afternoon folks,

Fishing for peoples views on growing these, Mrs B likes them so I suppose I should make an effortSmile

I don't grow them but was told that they're best grown from offsets rather than seed as the latter don't always flower.

I've had them for years, always grown from seed because I can't get the offsets to take Sad but one of my vert de Laon is clearly a cardoon!
I like the small purple ones best and pick them tiny and chokeless. Last year one plant gave over 30 heads Smile

I've purchased 10 plants/plugs, I know its more expensive but they are perennials, now where to put them!

RE: Globe Artichokes - Jimny14 - 08-04-2022

I grow them have done for a few years, never get many but they're not in the sunniest spot. I'm planning on a reshuffle in the veg patch soon so they may very well move to the sunnier bit of a new bed if I get round to it.

Bumping this with another question, I'm on my 2nd try at growing them but they always seem to get either eaten or just die back, any advice welcome.

I have one at home in a pot that is doing well but as for the plot, argh
