Protection of your brassica - Curly - 27-05-2020 How do you protect your plants from pests I came across a reference about a homemade garlic spray has anyone tried making a garlic spray and if so how good is it and what does it protect your brassicas from RE: Protection of your brassica - Can the Man - 27-05-2020 The only thing works for me is a net all round to keep pigeons and rabbits out. RE: Protection of your brassica - Curly - 28-05-2020 Thanks Can the Man but how do you control the slugs and snails RE: Protection of your brassica - Small chilli - 28-05-2020 Nematodes for slimy ones. Net for everything else. Not so many now with the warm dry weather. RE: Protection of your brassica - Bren - 28-05-2020 I net and use a few organic slug pellets one year I planted a spare kale in a bucket it lasted 2 days before it was stripped to a stalk. Never again. RE: Protection of your brassica - Greenfingers - 28-05-2020 Blue pellets of death for slitherers. Netting for everything else. If it was allowed I would use an air gun for anything with legs or wings.....at least that would be target specific. RE: Protection of your brassica - Veggie - 28-05-2020 My apologies in advance. Every time I read the title of this thread, its "Protection of your brassiere". Sorry, I'll get my coat................and the rest of my underwear. RE: Protection of your brassica - Moth - 29-05-2020 Netting over the kale. And since that stops the frog and the blackbirds getting at the slugs, I sprinkle a few pellets under the netting if there seem to be lots of slugs - I have those tiny black ones that are so hard to see in the soil. The dry weather seems to be keeping numbers down though. elsewhere in the garden I leave predators and pests to get on with it. RE: Protection of your brassica - Small chilli - 14-06-2020 I got my frame built today ( about time ). I covered it with net. I’ll get mor net for next year so I can do the other end of the bed as well. [attachment=460] |
