Weeded and mulched some hibiscus planted in the autumn and the hops.
Then weeded and heavily mulched the hugelkultur bed - the timber is broken down so much that the soil is gorgeous and even the creeping buttercups and dandelions pull out. But despite all the mulch, the bed is now a saucer rather than a mound, and the roots of the peach tree keep getting exposed!

Quick visit to the plot, more leaves in the dalek and sowed carrots and parsnips.

Covid test finally negative. I hadn't done one since Fri as we are running out.

Porch is being replaced so we've got the builders in. Drizzle is keeping me indoors. The noise might drive me out into the gh.

Hoed a lot then potted up some aubergines, sweet peppers and others, about 60 plants in all. Not all will get planted out. They will have to demonstrate their worth first.

I'd be interested in whether you get greenfly and how you (cheaply) get rid of it. Last year (my first at growing aub, chillies and peppers seriously) I was plagued with the blighters and vowed never again. The harvest wasn't worth the hassle. This year I'll stick to tomatoes.

Yesterday I potted on 5 more plants destined for the new garden. Which was very therapeutic after a morning of paperwork.
Today I’ll be mostly working on my G&G Easter competition entry. Hope lots of people are going to join in.

I thought we were over the cold nights snap, but no they're coming back next week. All the plants on the windowsill are getting too leggy, they've got reasonable one sided light and a radiator underneath so are growing away. They need more light and less heat. To this end I thought to set up the third (!) heated prop, it will be cheaper in the long run than heating the whole gh. Unfortunately the third one isn't thermostatically controlled and runs rather warm. So it's shuffling things round to their optimum growing conditions in anticipation of freezing temps by next week. Potted on toms Jens tangerine and Alicante.

You may remember I was disappointed at the germination rate of the saved manky bijou peas. Well I planted those that chitted initially then bunged the box with the dud ones in a corner of the gh and forgot about them. I looked in the box yesterday and found it full of shoots. Out of about 60 seeds only 4 had failed. So they got potted up, although some root tips looked a little frosted from the freezing nights we've had, so I'm not holding my breath they'll all grow. Just goes to show you should never give up Smile

Did you get them in the greenhouse? Did you wash it out well before using?
