Picked a trug of apples from one tree and pruned the upper branches at the same time. In other words, I cut off the high branches in order to reach the apples Wink
Shredded the branches.
Planted some rooted lemon grass (a freebie a couple of weeks ago) and cut out the dead leaves from a 2 year old pot of lemon grass. Needs repotting now.
Planted some Bijou mangetout seedlings in the pea house.
Emptied a dustbin of previously shredded stuff that has started to decompose onto an empty bed.
Raked off some dead grass and piled it on a path.

Spent yesterday sieving my compost bins, found a few things I thought I had lost!
Happy with the amount of compost collected for now my back will be pleased to hear.

Plan to go foraging blackberries today as I have a nice crop of apples growing on my fan trained apple trees. Cool Then it's apple and blackberry pie making time! Big Grin

Cut the grass in the veg shop, first with the electric mower, then with the pushalong one - its first outing. It was far more satisfying to use than the electric one, maybe not as efficient, but I didn't have to wonder where the lead was all the time. On flat ground it would have been easier but there are so many tussocks and molehills to negotiate, apart from the slope that it was hard pushing in places. I liked it though and think that, if I pushed it around weekly, it would be a great workout. Big Grin
Raked out more dead grass from the paths. They haven't been mowed all year as I'm trying to control the grass by raking and mulching with the grass and weeds.
Potted up lots of strawberry runners.

Baking, then tomato processing yesterday. I'm wondering why I grow so many. Tomato soup for lunch today, now there's a surprise Smile

Fed toms, cucs and container courgettes.
Picked and dehydrated apples, the bits were turned into puree, made blackberry and apple jam.

I love my peeler, corer slicer Big Grin

Boiled up my foraged blackberries along with my home grown apples to use as a pie filling. I intend freezing it so I can make pies at my leisure but it seems a wee bit watery and I don't want soggy bottoms to my pies. Rolleyes
Google says I should add a bit of flour, but don't particularily want to boil it up again? Suppose I'll have to though. Sick

Moved another row of slabs. Collected seeds. Emptied out a few pots from things that are finished or haven’t made it. Chopped down a few weeds.

Vinny, You could drain the liquid off - or mix up some cornflour with water and stir it in over heat. That's what I do to anything that too watery.

I've tidied up the bed where the plum tree was. The stump is shooting like crazy! Dug up the Stinking iris that was spreading nearby and weeded. Edged it with some branches from the plum tree. Planted some of the odd pots of things that were lying around, including the Anemone I was given yesterday, Blue and yellow Iris, possible Kaffir lilies, a clump of perennial geraniums and some rockery plants whose name escapes me.
Replanted the tulip bulbs I dug up accidentally. Wink

I never cook the blackberries for using in a pie...I use stewed apples, using that as a base and I sprinkle the blackberries on top. I freeze the blackberries as is.
