Dittany - Moth - 24-12-2021 Does anyone grow dictamnus fraxinella? AKA gas plant, burning bush, dittany. I came across it in an old gardening book and I've not heard of it before. It seems like it would be easy to grow, and I see Chiltern have seeds. I'd quite like to give it a go, but if it doesn't look much, or is a thug, or has some other disability, I wouldn't want it. RE: Dittany - Small chilli - 24-12-2021 I’ve only heard of it from my extensive tour of chiltern seeds website. It did grab my attention. But I know nothing else about it, sorry. RE: Dittany - JJB - 24-12-2021 I thought it was imaginary, from Harry Potter. Giving it a Google, RHS don't seem to mention any problems except it might cause skin sensitivity. How can they say it's poisonous AND give it an edibility rating of two out of five??? I shall get some seeds and give it a go. RE: Dittany - JJB - 24-12-2021 Well nettles are edible and cause rashes, may be dittany has similar properties. RE: Dittany - Veggie - 24-12-2021 The leaves can be dried to make tea. That'll be the 2/5 edibility bit, I guess? |
