Dittany - Moth - 24-12-2021

Does anyone grow dictamnus fraxinella? AKA gas plant, burning bush, dittany.  I came across it in an old gardening book and I've not heard of it before. It seems like it would be easy to grow, and I see Chiltern have seeds. I'd quite like to give it a go, but if it doesn't look much, or is a thug, or has some other disability, I wouldn't want it.

I’ve only heard of it from my extensive tour of chiltern seeds website. It did grab my attention. But I know nothing else about it, sorry.

I thought it was imaginary, from Harry Potter. Giving it a Google, RHS don't seem to mention any problems except it might cause skin sensitivity.

Harry Potter?

Thanks for the link, Veggie. How can they say it's poisonous AND give it an edibility rating of two out of five???

I shall get some seeds and give it a go.

Well nettles are edible and cause rashes, may be dittany has similar properties. Smile

The leaves can be dried to make tea. That'll be the 2/5 edibility bit, I guess?
