Depends what sort of tomatoes you're looking for. More well known varieties I go with Premier Seed Direct or any of the other cheaper seed shops. SimplySeed, Pennard Plants, MoreVeg and Victoriana Nursery also have an interesting range.

More obscure varieties I usually have to buy from Europe:

TMTT - Do have any problems getting seed from Europe now we've gone through Brexit?

RE: 2022 Tomato Grow List - toomanytommytoes - 08-12-2021

I've had orders from TomatoFifou (France), TomatoEden (Poland), Cultive ta Rue (France) and Vertiloom (Belgium) come through with no problems. The others I haven't ordered from since Brexit.

This year I'm going to try grafting using Roma VF as the rootstock. I've still got some submarine seeds left so will do some on those as well. I'm not going to be very adventurous and grow:

Alicante as my main variety for cooking and bottling. The skins come off easily, it has plenty of juice and has very little greenback.
Gardeners delight gives  heavy crop of what I consider very tasty tomatoes
Orange Banana crops well and goes to a paste on cooking that helps thicken dishes well.
Galina I like the lemony smell  of the ripe fruit on the plant and they keep for a long time. Just have to keep off the ground away from any mice.

I tried Black Russian last year but wasn't particularly impressed. I should probably grow a beefsteak as well.
Have you tried black icicle? It's a huge cropper- has quite thick vines. May do well in your situation?

RE: 2022 Tomato Grow List - JJB - 31-12-2021

My list gets changed every time I sort through the seeds but at the moment it's:

CHERRY
Sungold - always good for snacking on
Blush - orange oval, grew last year and liked the taste, eventually. It was a bit late season.
Oleron yellow - new - yellow cherry
Rubylicious - new - red cherry supposedly blight resistant
Matts hornet maybe if I find room
Atomic grape ditto

SALAD
Orange banana - did well for me last year - orange plum
Crimson crush - survived the blight outside last year
Mountain magic - new - for outside, supposedly blight resistant
Green zebra - new - just because
Alicante - new - recommended on here
Zlatava - new - just to experiment

LARGE
Buffalo Horn- did well for me last year
Mat su express - new
Orange jazz - new - maybe
Northern lights - new - maybe

Then I think about the old favourites I've left out and wonder if I should change it all over again. Just call me wavy Mavis.

RE: 2022 Tomato Grow List - JJB - 15-03-2022

WOW! The green zebra 2015 seedswap seeds - one has germinated, with maybe more on the way.

RE: 2022 Tomato Grow List - PyreneesPlot - 15-03-2022

I'm hoping for a better year this year after harvesting no more than half a dozen fruit in 2021: a combination of fungus gnats and damping off set the plants back and I had to re-sow but catastrophic blight wiped out all 40 plants!

This year I'm growing :-
Roma & San Marzano for bottling as usual, 6 plants of each
Mount Vesuvius for drying, 6 plants (New)
1 or 2 plants of all these
Brandywine Black
Black Cherry
Pineapple
Cherry Roma
Omar’s Lebanese (My favourite)
Tiny Tim
Golden Sunrise
Raspberry Oxheart
Gardener’s Delight

Then from Kokopelli I have two mixed sachets, one of cherry tomatoes and one of the rest, each containing 35 seeds made up from 13 different varieties; I’ve sown six from each packet this year, although only five have germinated so far, but I won’t know what’s what until they fruit!  Huh I imagine I'll be posting lots of pictures asking, "What do you think this one is ..?"

The packets include –

Imur Prior beta
Wolly Green Zebra
White Bush
Pastel Sleeves
Black Roma
Black Shadow
Moravsky Div
Gregori Altai
Skyreacher
Coeur de Pigeon
Russian Persimon
Banana Legs
Rose de Berne

Cherry Tomatoes -
Washington Cherry
Farenheit Blues
Rancho Solito
Podland Pink
Raisen Vert
Abracazebra
Isis Candy Cherry
Luckenbach Zebra
Poire jaune
Saucy Green
Black Centiflor Hypertress
Prize of the Trials
White Queen
