Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - Can the Man - 14-09-2021 I have transplanted a blueberry bush that I have for 5 years that has never flowered or fruited. It was in a large patio pot. I have put it in an ericaceous raised bed and guess what happened it has produced flowers. I would not expect to get fruit at this time of year, has anybody had any experience of a blueberry fruiting in the autumn/winter ? Don't they need a pollinator? you might be out of luck for fruit. RE: Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - Veggie - 16-09-2021 Do they need another variety of blueberry to cross pollinate (not just a bee)? RE: Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - JJB - 16-09-2021 I believe so, a bit like some pears. RHS say 'Although many blueberries are partly or fully self-pollinating, it is best to grow two or preferably three different cultivars, as cross-pollinated plants tend to produce more abundant crops.' So you might get some fruit Can. Fingers crossed. RE: Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - Can the Man - 16-09-2021 I have 3 other blueberry plants but they are going dormant at the moment no flowers on them RE: Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - Can the Man - 25-10-2021 There are blueberries on the bush now, very small and not ripe yet. RE: Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - Can the Man - 16-01-2022 look at these blueberries in January [attachment=4312] RE: Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - SarrissUK - 16-01-2022 I've never seen anything like it Can RE: Blueberry bush producing flowers in September - Can the Man - 11-09-2022 It’s at it again, after fruiting earlier in the year it’s having a 2nd flush of flowers so I expect a 2nd flush of berries but they will probably be small and bitter again. I’ll photo it tomorrow and post. |
