To get to the airport, I must travel at 60km/hr. Due to bad traffic, I discover that when I am half way there, I have only averaged 30km/hr.
How fast must I go for the second half of my journey to achieve my overall speed of 60km/hr?
Come on, somebody must be able to do this one!

It seems to me that you'd have to do the second half in zero time. That can't be right.

Its the right answer, Martin. Big Grin
The explanation :- Going half the distance at half the speed uses up all the time available! I would have to cover the last half of the journey instantly to get up to the desired average.

That's far too cerebral for me.

It's easier to see if you put actual numbers in.
Assume the airport is 60km away. This means you have an hour to get there.
If you get half way at 30km an hour, it's taken you an hour already. There's no time left.

That's how I "explained" it to myself but I went with 120 km so that I wouldn't get confused with the km/h.

But Einstein said that was not possible as he showed nothing can travel faster than light, so you are setting impossible questions now. Tongue

Sorry to tell you all, but you've missed your flights. Big Grin

This puzzle looks easier. Wink

Rearrange the letters to make three 6-letter words that are all synonyms of GOOD.

Is one of the words entire?
