I thought at first it may be something to do with serifs on the letters in a serif font, eg. some have serifs to the left, some to the right, or top or bottom but I can't see any pattern.

Then I thought maybe it's mirror images or reverse images, but that doesn't work either.

I agree with Moth, the first line BDO B is two lines, D is two lines but O is only one.
