RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - Veggie - 10-03-2023 Sowed a seed tray with old Red Cabbage seeds - about 5 packets worth. If a few germinate, I'll be happy. I really don't want 200 red cabbages. I also have a jar of summer cabbage seeds and one of winter cabbages. Its my new plan for old seeds - empty the packets into a jar, shake them up and give them a chance, either in a tray or in a bare patch in the garden. Eases my conscience and frees up space to buy more seeds. RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - JJB - 11-03-2023 I, rather rashly, chucked a handful of unknown peas in a box with damp tissue. I've no idea whether they're mangetout, proper peas or sweet peas. Prob not sweet peas as they were larger seeds. So all these peas have chitted and now I've got to do something with them. I put some in an MFB and some in some very short lengths of guttering. Hopefully theyll survive the frosts. Veg growing is a constant surprise. RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - MartinH - 11-03-2023 Today I sowed cabbage, kohlrabi and leeks. That's all for now, until the weather warms up a bit! RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - Small chilli - 11-03-2023 Sown some peas for shoot. And some mystery flower seeds Thad had escaped into the flower container from the seed swap. RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - Proserpina - 11-03-2023 I've sown some Nicotiana, some Iceland poppies and some cucumbers for the propagator. I haven't turned it on yet, but I'll get round to it once I've sown a few more things to go in there tomorrow. Thankfully, I had hauled a bag of compost into the house at the start of the week, because there's no way I was venturing out into the snow today! Lots of seeds that are supposed to be sown direct around now too, but my garden is covered in more than a foot of snow so they'll just have to wait. I've also sorted all of my seeds into envelopes according to the alphabet. Very much needed as there's no point having a nice inventory system and phone prompts when things need to be sown if you can't then find anything! RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - Garrett - 12-03-2023 Some tomatoes: Green Zebra (two of these) Golden Sunrise Auntie Madge's Gardener's Delight (old strain) Girl Girl's Weird Thing Ananas Noir Reinhard's Purple Sugar Piglet Willie's French Black Black and Brown Boar Jaune Flamme Red Zebra Another little punnet of cress. I'm remembering to sow these every ten days or so to keep me in cress for sandwiches. I'm glad I stocked up on 5p bags of seed in the Wilko clearance in autumn. RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - JJB - 12-03-2023 Some saved marigold, just to see if they survive the frost. Leek Lincoln Relocated peas, which I am fairly sure are Bijou mangetout RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - Proserpina - 12-03-2023 I've sown quite a lot in the propagator today including Zinnias, dahlias, Celosia, lemongrass, tomatillos, Aztec Sweet Mint and Gazanias. Plus some cress (on a windowsill) and orange Hawkbit (in the fridge for now). I am particularly excited about the Aztec Sweet Mint (from Veggie in the swap). As soon as I opened the packet, the mint smell was gorgeous. Really hoping to get a decent crop of that as I bet it makes fantastic mint tea. RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - Veggie - 13-03-2023 Its very sweet, Pros. https://www.norfolkherbs.co.uk/product/aztec-sweet-herb/ RE: 2023 - What I sowed today - Farendwoman - 13-03-2023 Oooh . Zinnias - thought it might be a bit early. But anything Pros can do , so can FEW. |
