It's a driftwood sculpture. Bought it at Hyde Hall Flower Show a couple of years ago. It's just two tree roots mounted on a piece of wood, you can see faces or grotesque figures, all sorts in there if you stare at it long enough.

Colin and Nelson are still in their place on the stump, out of picture.

Thank you for setting my mind at rest. I was worried about Colin and Nelson, that someone had come along to take their places. Does it have a name?

It's a beautiful garden Martin and I love the shape of those beds!

Woody in the rain. He looks a lot happier when the sun is shining

Hello Woody and welcome to the Forum. We all look happier in the sunshine. Big Grin

It took me a few days, but I've now finished digging over the bed in front of the old shed.

As well as the Conference pear, I've planted a red Rhododendron in there.
Also I've left in an evergreen ground cover plant that I'm not sure about. I'm thinking I'll give it till the end of 2022 then see if I want to take it out.

The tall Ash tree stump will be used as a washing line pole. My thought is that I can coppice (pollard?) any fresh shoots that grow from the top and use them as plant supports.

Now I'd better go and refill that bird feeder!

More digging today!

I created a new flower bed around my newly-planted apple tree, and planted three roses in it.

These are the roses. I bought them back in the autumn, they've been sitting in their pots since. It's good to have them in the ground now.

I couldn't bring myself to give them the hard prune they need, but I'll do it tomorrow.

I'm afraid the boys will shortly become homeless: I'm going to get rid of that old stump.

Undecided

They do look a bit cramped, could you get them a 2 bed flat next time?
