RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - Broadway - 14-08-2020 Save hello to little baldrick [attachment=1034] RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - JJB - 14-08-2020 Here are Fred and Ned, sadly no longer of this world. Disaster struck the tromba world soon after this photo was taken, a monster ate them [attachment=1037] RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - SarrissUK - 14-08-2020 Wow SC! They're amazing! I think that 4kg one definitely outweighs my biggest beast a couple of years ago. I think they taste great even at that size. They take on flavours really well, but don't have that strong flavour, so they're great with everything. If you want it to store until winter, leave them on the plant until they go a pale yellow. That's when they're ready to store long term. I ate my beast in February the year after, and it had been stored in the kitchen leaning up into a corner next to my kettle - it was the only place I could put it! Mine had turned pink inside by then, almost watermelon kind of colour and it had turned very sweet. Too sweet actually, to be savoury, if that makes sense. Awesome work SC RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - Small chilli - 22-08-2020 Tromboncino plant is still growing very well and producing. Even after the 3 rather large Troms it’s given me. [attachment=1099] RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - JJB - 22-08-2020 My tromba plant is suffering from overwatering in the rain, it has shed its babies, but I picked one huge one today. Sadly I can't see any more babies coming. [attachment=1101] RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - Small chilli - 31-08-2020 A couple more lovely tromboncino picked. Big but no monsters. I sent these home with my friend Clare. [attachment=1154] RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - Mikey - 31-08-2020 I love the waney edge table too. RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - Small chilli - 13-09-2020 so very impressed with how tromboncino has performed this year. He’s still going strong. He’s also taken over half the tunnel . [attachment=1245] [attachment=1246] [attachment=1247] [attachment=1248] RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - JJB - 13-09-2020 I'm jealous SC. Whilst my tromba has started to produce a few fruit after shedding the earlier ones, they are nowhere near the size of yours. I think, in the world of trombas size does matter. RE: 2020 Tromba Competition - SarrissUK - 13-09-2020 Mine didn't even get started. The ones I thought were trombas are producing round courgette lookalikes. Not a single tromba this year. Better luck next year |
