RE: 2026 - Today's Recipe - Veggie - 13-01-2026 [attachment=8632] Last night's leftovers! Dark bits are mushrooms. Bren , there are several types of "mince" in the shops. The one I used last night was https://www.this.co/products/beef-mince-frozen It looks like mince and stays separate when cooked, like meat mince. Its about 40 years since I've eaten "meat mince" so can't really compare the taste! Its good with pasta so you could try it with your spag bol, perhaps? RE: 2026 - Today's Recipe - Vinny - 13-01-2026 Meat (beef , lamb or pork) mince is lovely and only one ingredient. Gawd knows whats in that highly ptrocessed crap they call veggie mince?. Tried it once, never again! Just saying!
RE: 2026 - Today's Recipe - Vinny - 13-01-2026 After a rummage in the fridge to check dates the meats I needed to use were sausage, bacon and rump steak. So three guesses what I had for lunch, with a couple of eggs scrambled and fried in the butter i cooked the steak in. Enough bacon & sausage left for ron with possibly some cottage cheese? I would never try and bait you veggie but just out of interest I will have a look at the packaging & the ingredient list next time I am shopping? A lot of these fake meat products seem to be based on Jackfruit? Not a lot of jackfruit growing in the UK I would imagine? I don't even know what a jackfruit looks like?
RE: 2026 - Today's Recipe - Bren - 13-01-2026 Thanks Veggie I’ll give it a go at some point. It’s looking like I’ll be able to buy it in a fair few stores. Its soya, not jackfruit - which can be bought in tins. It cooks into "shreds" and is quite bland so takes on the flavour of whatever its cooked with. Good in curries.(13-01-2026, 04:03 PM)Veggie Wrote:The majority of bought vegetables are treated with chemicals also!(13-01-2026, 02:58 PM)Vinny Wrote: Meat (beef , lamb or pork) mince is lovely and only one ingredient.
