Unfortunately, all the ash trees  around here are diseased. My neighbour has a few along our shared boundary that regularly drop branches on my side. I have just one ash tree now, hoping it will survive.

It may have developed immunity.

My plan sort of went to plan. I asked the men for chippings  they said no. I was a bit disgruntled but couldn't really complain.   Then watching, from the house,  the man up the tree cutting branches, I saw he was chucking them into our garden. If I'd been asked, that would have been no problem, but it would have been nice to be forewarned. I traipsed up to the top and saw my sumac had been damaged by large falling debris.  I had a rant, I'm good at ranting. Apologies,  so sorry, etc. I said what's done is done but considering you were so negative, perhaps I can have some chippings  now.  Result! They brought the chippings van over to our driveway and filled lots of bags and a bit of a dumpy. I now have more chippings than I know what to do with.  A compost bin full to brim plus some extra bags. Men were very apologetic and ingratiating. Now my hope is they come in handy.

There was much barrowing of bags up to the top, then emptying into a bin.

Anyone else had problems accessing the forum site earlier today? I tried a couple of times and gave up in the end. Seems to be ok now though?

No problems here and I've been looking in throughout the morning.

Sowed some sweet peppers.
Inspected the tray of sweet peas sowed in late autumn and gave them a good snip to encourage side shoots. In past years I've had heavy winter casualties with my attempts to overwinter them, but they've all survived this time with at least two in each cell.

Moved some pots (with bean sticks already in place) into the GH and planted some mangetout in them. Scattered lettuce seeds on top.
Emptied a potato pot and found some spuds. Lined the bottom of the pot with wool insulation. Will refill with compost soon and sow summat in it.
Cut back the physalis as the leaves were looking a bit furry!
Shuffled the pots around in the GH so that cropping pots are easy to access with newly planted pots in out of the way corners.

Ah, so it wasn't just my pooter? Strange! Huh

Sun's out but too soggy outside, so we shampooed the hall carpet, putting the air-conditioning on warm (run by solar and dehumifying) to help dry it out. I was gobsmacked how much dirt came out in the water. You all know how I hate housework, I can't remember the last time it was done. I use the term I or we here, very loosely, himself did it (after I had assembled the kit) after all he was the one who trod mud in! As it's a one man job, I left him to it and sorted tomato seeds, far more important Big Grin I'm still dithering over which varieties to grow and will do so for weeks to come, I'm sure.
