RE: Mangetout - Veggie - 24-04-2021 I know. RE: Mangetout - JJB - 29-04-2021 I finally have a flower on my bijou mangetout peas, not quite fully out but I can see the colour. I bet you're already eating yours Veggie! RE: Mangetout - Veggie - 29-04-2021 Haven't eaten one yet but there are several ready to be picked. I took a photo for you but my phone has forgotten how to talk to the computer to prove it. RE: Mangetout - JJB - 29-04-2021 It's on strike in sympathy with me RE: Mangetout - Veggie - 30-04-2021 [attachment=2825][attachment=2826] .............and very nice they were, too. RE: Mangetout - JJB - 30-04-2021 I think I made the mistake of planting too many in one pot. RE: Mangetout - JJB - 17-06-2021 Having removed the gh bijou some time ago and like Veggie put them aside to set some seed, at what stage can I strip the pods off? Veggie mentioned elsewhere she's set them out on a windowsill, do they have to be dry on the plants first? I would really like to be shot of the scrabbly mess. I bought some mangetout Golden Sweet from T&Ms £1 sale. Do you think its worth sowing them now? I'm going to perhaps give it a try if I can find room. Any one grown this variety? PS I've read it takes 12-13 weeks for them to mature so is probably OK to sow now. RE: Mangetout - Veggie - 17-06-2021 The Bijou pods develop bumps where the peas are; leave them on the plant and the pods will turn yellow and dry. Ideally, leave them on the plant until they're really crisp and rattle when you shake them! I cut the pods off at that stage and bring them indoors where they can dry off completely, without the humidity of the GH. The pods can be cracked open and I spread the peas out to harden off completely. All of mine are out of the GH, but I have 2 more clusters in the garden, one is cropping (growing in a planter) the others, later sown, are in the ground. RE: Mangetout - JJB - 17-06-2021 My seed pods aren't yellow yet so I'll leave them for a bit more RE: Mangetout - Spec - 17-06-2021 What a difference, I am growing Oregon suger snap and I don't even have flowers yet let alone peapods |
