RE: Today's Achievement - Veggie - 04-03-2025 I planted some perennial cauliflowers. I've been dithering about where to plant them for weeks. I usually buy high fat beef mince because I need the fat (to be converted into the internal carbs i need) as I am mostly carb free. For the Pemmican because the mince is dried in the dehydrator I had to buy the more expensive low fat mince! Sounds like an awful lot of faff to me, Vinny, but then, your diet is a complete mystery also. I'm really pleased it works for you though. RE: Today's Achievement - Vinny - 05-03-2025 Hopefully my achievment for today will be to finiah making the Pemmican. I left the dehydrator on all night to make sure the beef was really dry and have blitzed it to a powder this morning. The blueberries are taking longer to dehydrate than I thought they would, but they will dry eventually? In retrospect I should have maybe cut each blueberry in half to allow the moisture within to dissipate easier? Once fully dried I will blitz them with the meat. When I have both together I will do a taste test as the dripping will add very little to the taste.I have a nice chilli and salt powder that I add to my biltong, so may add a bit of that? Last ime I made biltog I tried adding a Char-Su mix but I wasnt impressed with the outcome so shall stick to what I know tastes good to me! ![]() RE: Today's Achievement - Vinny - 05-03-2025 (05-03-2025, 10:38 AM)JJB Wrote:You're right JJB. I have now completed the Pemmican and decanted the mixure into ice cube trays as I had no other small moulds. It has an interesting taste, not unpleasant, but I wouldn't like to survive on it alone? I could survive on he Biltong/Jerky I make for two or three days easily, but not this I don't think? It is afer all starvation food and is ok to keep unfrigerated for over ten years. It would be good for a camping trip as it's lightweight and very nutricious!(04-03-2025, 02:56 PM)Vinny Wrote: Todays achievement is that I finally got round to starting a batch of Pemmican! It was always going to be an experiment, but I wont be making It again.I will however make some more Biltong as my supply is just about exhasuted ![]() RE: Today's Achievement - Veggie - 05-03-2025 Cleared out the garden toolshed and put some shelving in. RE: Today's Achievement - JJB - 05-03-2025 I sowed seeds and made pancakes, I think that's 2 wonderful achievements ![]() RE: Today's Achievement - SarrissUK - 05-03-2025 (26-02-2025, 11:06 PM)PyreneesPlot Wrote: Watched a series of training videos for a database I'll be using (hopefully) when I start volunteering for a charity. Are you transferring money internationally? It's a warehouse dealing with returns from online shoppers that didn't want their goods. I'm stood up all day, and it's 9 hour shifts in total, but with plenty of breaks. My feet were killing me last week after every evening shift, and my poor feet felt like footballs when I got home lol I started wearing support stockings, put in new insoles in the terrible shoes they've given me and rewarded myself with giving myself a foot massage when I get home. This week I'm working mornings, and I've managed to get up at 4.45am three days running. Thankfully I'm not working anymore this week - yay for part time work ![]() RE: Today's Achievement - PyreneesPlot - 06-03-2025 (05-03-2025, 09:30 PM)SarrissUK Wrote:(26-02-2025, 11:06 PM)PyreneesPlot Wrote: Watched a series of training videos for a database I'll be using (hopefully) when I start volunteering for a charity. Are you transferring money internationally? RE: Today's Achievement - Veggie - 06-03-2025 Had my Shingles jab and, because I'd parked in Sainsbug's carpark I went in the store. My achievement was walking all the way round and not seeing anything I wanted to buy. I replaced my basket and walked out emptyhanded. |
