RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Small chilli - 21-09-2022 The cages are bigger than I thought they’d be. They’ll be very handy for lots of things RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 21-09-2022 [attachment=5402] I particularly like this one - with its part propagator lid. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 22-09-2022 Collected another cage - a smaller version of the one above. Some of the cages have holes in the side for tunnels but I have a pile of small round containers that fit the round holes and, in the square holes, a square flower pot. Also IN came a large, unopened tub of Green Jasmine Tea. Smells divine.. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 24-09-2022 Went to Church today. I've only been there 3 times but they seem to know me! I went late and missed most of the stuff but did come away with 2 bags of spuds, bread and cakes and a couple of tins of dog food - so we can all eat this week! Also IN came a collection of stationery/crafting stuff - including 6 pairs of scissors in various sizes. I wanted these so that I can keep a pair in each GH as I'm always mislaying them. There are also 2 pairs of wiggly cutting scissors (I'm sure they have a name). I'll be able to prune plants with wiggly edges. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Small chilli - 24-09-2022 6 apples & some olive oil. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 24-09-2022 Just picked up some OLIO items - 6 packs of cod, mash and peas, 3 Braised beef & mash, 3 packs of lamb hearts and some veggie sausages. The OLIO girl had 150 pots of hummus to rehome in an hour, before the Use by date was reached at midnight and that's just one item of food waste. There were bags of chopped onions, pasties and sausage rolls, beetroot salad.........all likely to end up in the bin because of the date on them. Criminal waste of food. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 25-09-2022 IN came my week's supply of sourdough bread - one very large loaf, a rye bread loaf, an olive focaccia and two blackcurrant cruffins (weird name for something like a croissant/cream horn filled with blackcurrant jam and custard. Very nice, despite the name. Also picked up about 30 CDs - Queen, Rod Stewart, Roy Orbison, Supremes type music. A few I've never heard of! And some stationery - ring binders, wallets and pockets for my seed store. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 27-09-2022 IN came a lot of bananas. The donor had 3 supermarket crates of them to rehome. I helped, of course, and took some to my brother. Also IN came some dog biscuits and some Beef & mash meals and chicken fillets. I may not eat them but I know someone who does. Yesterday I collected 8 x 2.5ltr plastic containers (used to hold soy and tamari sauces) from the local Zero waste shop. They'll be perfect for holding the leachate from the Hotbin. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 30-09-2022 IN came an Original Organics Wormery - the one that looks like a wheelie bin. It was half full of compost and some worms - no idea how many but 2 escaped in the car. Also a load of CDs - most of which are not my sort of music, but I'll regift those. OUT went some books and a container of Hotbin leachate for the man who gave me the containers a couple of days ago. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 01-10-2022 It was Church Food day today but first, I collected 4 bags of frozen veg (Cauli, broccoli, carrots and mixed veg). Collected 2 bags of food at the church, bread, cakes, salad bags, peppermint teabags, lots of dips - houmous, taramasalata, yogurt, frozen vegan/vegetarian meals, sandwiches and some meat items. Fortunately for me, vegan/vegetarian food is not very popular there so I was invited to take everything in the box - which, of course, I did. It would have been rude to refuse! The only OUTs were some Skopelos mint cuttings that had been requested by a lady who'd had some previously. It was the least I could do for all the bananas she gave me a few days ago. |
