RE: 2025 - Picked my first........... - JJB - 05-07-2025 Ruthje tomato. A new one to me, and first impressions were good. RE: 2025 - Picked my first........... - doublyjonah - 05-07-2025 First courgette RE: 2025 - Picked my first........... - SarrissUK - 05-07-2025 First time harvesting a tiny bit of chives today. I'm chuffed with how they're settling in, considering they cost me something like 20p. Love the yellow stickered herbs in pots. RE: 2025 - Picked my first........... - Mark_Riga - 05-07-2025 First tomato, a small galina. RE: 2025 - Picked my first........... - Veggie - 06-07-2025 First ever, yellow plum from a tree planted several years ago. I had given it a warning that if it didn't do something useful soon, it would be for the chop. Good to know that something listens to me. It was very nice too - there are some more, not ripe yet. They've only cropped well twice in about 40 years, I'm surprised they're still standing. This year they both have an acceptable crop, if birds don't get to them. They have a stay of execution. The weather this spring must have been to their liking. RE: 2025 - Picked my first........... - Small chilli - 06-07-2025 2 first Evers for me. Golden beetroot and elephant garlic RE: 2025 - Picked my first........... - Mark_Riga - 07-07-2025 (06-07-2025, 12:15 PM)Veggie Wrote: First ever, yellow plum from a tree planted several years ago. And wasps are already after them (the plums unfortunately not the grubs). A job for tomorrow morning is to hang out as many wasp traps as I can put together, 5 so far. And first pick of blackcurrants just 1kg. and first cauli.I don’t have issues with squirrels eating cherries, more the finches eating the buds, they are called Bud Finches here in Kildare, those that survive the birds get them, generally blackbirds. I think I salvaged about 5 this year. |
