RE: Second hand books I've bought - Vinny - 24-10-2024 Another four books from the 'Sally' today for the pricely total of £1. Three are historical fiction mainly set in the 16th/17th century. One non fction book ids called A Case for Christ! A journalists personal investigation of the evidence for Jesus! I am not a 'believer' but it wil lbe interestng after reading this book whether I become a convert? .......... I very much doubt it though RE: Second hand books I've bought - Veggie - 24-10-2024 I've just finished reading "Free. Adventures on the margins of a wasteful society. What happens when you walk away from everything you think you can't live without".- Katharine Hibbert. She lost her job, couldn't pay the rent on her flat so decided to live without money for a year. She joined a squat, went skip diving for food and unwanted stuff, some of which she sold for cash. Hitched lifts, even to the Continent (foot passengers travel free on the ferries - but you need to be in a vehicle to board). I now know the law about squatting, if I should ever need to (heaven forbid!!). The food waste information was alarming, but not surprising. So much good food being dumped at the end of the day by shops, cafes, and so on. I have no wish to go to the extremes that she went too but it was an entertaining read. |
