F. Fried onions. So appetising whilst cooking ........but...............everything stinks of onions afterwards. Clothes, hair etc ..........its a big washing day the next day!

Garam Masala - is a lovely scented spice.

G

Freshly mown grass, no stories, I just like the smell.

G = Ginger
Ginger cake, ginger biscuits, ginger tea........ It's also good for calming a queasy stomach. I always had a packet in my bag when sailing or on a bus on a winding road. I'd nibble away on a biscuit like a starving hamster.

H

I think honeysuckle has to be a good contender for H, so easy to grow (and get fed up with when it rambles everywhere) but you tend to forgive its sprawling nature when you get wafts of the sweet smell.

I was also going to go with honeysuckle.
It’s the first thing I ever remember smelling. I had very blocked sinuses (operation worthy) as a child. I remember it used to grow on the back of the garage and my Nan picked me up so I could smell the flowers.

I could go with honey. It’s a smell & taste I have only begun to appreciate over the last couple of years

Hyacinths
I don't know whether I like or detest the smell of hyacinths. Its so overwhelming, spicy and sickly. Its OK outdoors but not in the house but I do like to see the early flowers - in the distance!

Incense
Another smell that reminds me of my Nan. I’d never be surprised to walk in to find an incense stick burning away. First time Bob witnessed it, it blew his mind.

I

This is causing me grief, I can't think of a smelly something beginning with I. There's iris but tbh I don't have a clue what they smell like.

I is for Iodine
I can't conjure up the smell of Iodine at the moment (except it was unpleasant)- but I do remember the pain of having it swabbed on injuries, the bright yellow colour that stained everything and the little brown glass bottle that lived in the medicine cupboard, both at home and my grandparents!
