RE: Tell us what you did today - Broadway - 07-10-2020 Cut back the strawberry bed... Weeded onion bed... Brought back 6 more potted runners... Planted a Rose named Stella... Also took a picture of one of my chard plants, only because I think chard is stunning (have harvested a load of this already but it keeps going) [attachment=1439] RE: Tell us what you did today - Small chilli - 15-10-2020 (07-10-2020, 11:14 AM)Broadway Wrote: Cut back the strawberry bed...That’s beautiful. What variety of chard is that? RE: Tell us what you did today - Small chilli - 15-10-2020 Collected some seeds. Spending the rest of the day playing with fire at the plot. What variety of chard is that? I believe it was "bright lights" as I also had green and yellow stalked plants as well. What variety of chard is that? Superb looking chard Danny, my bright lights red ones have always been weedy and spindly, I think not thinning out adequately may have something to do with it. You have inspired me to try again. RE: Tell us what you did today - Broadway - 15-10-2020 (15-10-2020, 09:47 AM)JJB Wrote:Trust me JJB I did nothing special!! This was a bit of the plot I just bunged things in to see how they got on. What variety of chard is that? RE: Tell us what you did today - Veggie - 15-10-2020 I have chard growing all year somewhere in the garden - its self seeds happily . There's usually some in the GH too. Its not because I like eating that much but because its so beautiful. Bright Lights is my favourite because of the randomness of the colours. RE: Tell us what you did today - Vinny - 15-10-2020 Afternoon Eventually got my lawn cut and boxed off. Two bags of cuttings to compost or use as a mulch at the allotment I also managed to cut my wildflower meadows (doesn't that sound powsh!) utilising the highest height of cut on the lawnmower and letting the cuttings fly. Needed a change of clothes and a shower after that as the local cats have been using my wild area to do there business and I stunk! Making what OH calls an 'Oven pie' now whch is basically mince, onions and mushrooms with a crust on top. I'm feeling a few aches and pains after my exertions so after walking the dog I may settle down to a bit of binge watching on the telly Take care folks. RE: Tell us what you did today - Bren - 15-10-2020 Not much today shopping, boring house things that needed doing then made chutney and removed the remaining cuc from my GH. RE: Tell us what you did today - Veggie - 15-10-2020 Its always a sad time when you clear a GH of your summer plants - today it was the turn of the Aubergines to get the chop. To be frank, I wasn't sad at all - they were the non-event of the year. Pretty flowers and it was fun to see what colour aubergines would emerge, but I haven't been tempted to eat any of them. Aubergines should be glossy purple not wishy washy greeny brown as most of these were. Next year, remind me not to grow any more..............although Kermit the aubergine is poking his tongue out at me, saying Me, me, me! |
