Blimey, MFI!! That's a name from the good old days. I agree about the nuts and bolts and usually one less hinge than you needed.

I still have a couple of dining room chairs from MFI, bought in 1975 when love was strong and money was short. P & I set up house on MFI. Chairs have been recovered and are still serviceable in the study (not so sure about P & I though
) I expect I could find out how much they cost, we had a very tight budget and although we didn't have spreadsheets P did love a list/chart/table for costings and I've kept them out of sentimentality- how sad is that?

They were covered in 'oatmeal' so it wouldn't have shown
Getting an extending dining room table and two chairs from Southampton to Salisbury in a Renault 5 was at the least 'interesting' and very stressful, a strain on young relationship.
