RE: What's flying near you? - JJB - 28-05-2025 Mummy greater spotted woodpecker visited with a youngster. Youngster had obviously been told to have a bath but wasn't quite sure how. It had a bird bath, a waterfall, a water saucer and a pond within feet but it tried to bath in a tablespoon of water on the pond surround paving. It finally found the waterfall after nearly falling headfirst into the pond. Mum found a peanut and tempted it away from the water, probably safer that way. How sweet ![]() And other birds identified only via the app Merlin Bird ID: great tit, eurasian blackbird, eurasian blackcap, nuthatch and willow warbler. It is amazing how many birds we have here, and I have no idea what they are from their song.
