[attachment=1554] RE: Identification Please? - Spec - 05-11-2020 Quite possibly its Guelder Rose which is mildly toxic RE: Identification Please? - Veggie - 05-11-2020 Thanks Danny. I'm still not convinced that you've picked sloes. The colour and the way thy're attached to the branches just doesn't look right. Can't see any massive thorns either. Have a look at https://thewildgentleman.com/2020/08/19/how-to-identify-sloes-blackthorn-for-sloe-gin-etc/ Don't want you to poison yourself - or waste gin on the wrong berry. RE: Identification Please? - Spec - 05-11-2020 Sorry the second photo is the one I think is a Guelder Rose as for the first doubt if it's a Blackthorn a when I have picked sloe berries the thorns were lethal RE: Identification Please? - Broadway - 05-11-2020 TBH Veggie I thought I'd ask before wasting some gin, didn't think about poisoning myself until you and Spec mentioned it!! I'm still 50/50 as to whether it's a sloe or not, I'll try and get some better pictures when I go for my stomp tomorrow RE: Identification Please? - Spec - 05-11-2020 [attachment=1555]Rather than start a new thread, could anyone tell me the name of this shrub RE: Identification Please? - Vinny - 05-11-2020 (05-11-2020, 04:24 PM)Broadway Wrote: TBH Veggie I thought I'd ask before wasting some gin, didn't think about poisoning myself until you and Spec mentioned it!!Sloes are purple, like a very small hard plum with a 'bloom' and make your eyes water if you try to eat one. As I said I'm going to get some more photos tomorrow including what I call thorns RE: Identification Please? - Small chilli - 05-11-2020 I’m still 85% sure you’ve harvested hawthorn. No need to waste them . Make hawthorn ketchup. It’s lovely. https://www.wildfooduk.com/wild-food-recipes/hawthorn-ketchup/ |
