If all courgettes, say, taste the same, I may as well mix them up and sow them as "unknown" courgettes. It really only matters if I want to save seeds (and I wouldn't save courgette seeds anyhow) or, if one plant does particularly well and I'd like to grow it again./or badly and don't!Always happy to help I think sweetheart cabbage tastes better than savoy. There are some brussels that taste better than others, but I base my opinion on bought ones as I don't bother growing them. On the same subject, some cauliflower tastes better than others. I think it is the level of sulphur compounds in a particular variety that makes the difference. RE: Do they all taste the same? - Vinny - 23-02-2026 All broad beans taste the same. All celery taste the same. All parsnips taste the same and an onion is an onion.
RE: Do they all taste the same? - Veggie - 23-02-2026 Perhaps it would be easier to list the veg that do NOT taste the same! ..........Tomatoes and peppers. Anything else? RE: Do they all taste the same? - Small chilli - 24-02-2026 Squash & pumpkin varieties taste different RE: Do they all taste the same? - JJB - 24-02-2026 (23-02-2026, 11:33 PM)Vinny Wrote: All broad beans taste the same. Some onions are stronger than others. Broad beans are indeed a bit of a muchness. Anything else? Cucumbers. Most are just like shop bought but the Delistar, that is my favourite, IMO is far superior, along with Beth Alpha RE: Do they all taste the same? - Bren - 24-02-2026 I stopped buying cucumbers they’re just a disappointment when compared to Beth Alpha. |
