Late last week, so not today, but the council planted some trees on our road at last. The rowan that had been there had to be cut down a few years ago because it was leaning quite heavily. I thought they were going to replant immediately, but they paved it over instead. We now have a Amelanchier/shadbush/shadwood/shadblow/serviceberry/sarvisberry/juneberry/saskatoon/sugarplum/wild-plum/chuckley pear on the pavement outside.

At first glance I thought "That's a lot of trees" - then I realised they're alternative names for  an Amelanchier. Big Grin Nice choice - you may get some fruit as a bonus.

Yellow catkins on the hazels, waving their little tails in the breeze and glowing like a ray of sunshine............this was yesterday, of course. Poor little catkins are dangling, damp and dripping today............but they'll shake it all off and be back to brighten my garden soon. Let's hear it for the catkins and anyone called Hazel. Big Grin
