RE: Fifty Shades of Aquilegias - JJB - 30-05-2025 I've ordered some cheap aquilegia seeds. How do I know if they need stratification. Should I module sow or choose a fee spot in the soil? Any bets on how successful I'll be? I understand they take ages to germinate. By the time they show (if they do) I'll have forgotten about them ![]() RE: Fifty Shades of Aquilegias - Small chilli - 30-05-2025 (30-05-2025, 08:50 AM)JJB Wrote: I've ordered some cheap aquilegia seeds. Are those the things that go missing 30 seconds after you've written on them, or if not then, 3 days later burried in the soil?? I must research getting some ![]() RE: Fifty Shades of Aquilegias - Moth - 30-05-2025 Most of my aquilegias have gone over already. As my cheap seeds were from T&M (wash my mouth out with soap!) I doubt if the species are mentioned. When I get them I might have to do some research RE: Fifty Shades of Aquilegias - Veggie - 30-05-2025 Try Carrie Thomas's instructions http://www.touchwoodplants.co.uk/sowing%20aquilegias.htm RE: Fifty Shades of Aquilegias - MartinH - 30-05-2025 All mine are from seed from Carrie Thomas as well. I didn't stratify, I just sowed them and waited till they came up. It seems I can sow them now and hope for the best. I still might do a bit of research too. Thanks V & TMTT RE: Fifty Shades of Aquilegias - toomanytommytoes - 31-05-2025 I've never actually followed instructions like those. I think they were compiled by scientists who have rigourously tested germination conditions, so that's why they are so specific. If they need cold, I usually winter sow and keep them under cover outdoors, or stick them in the fridge. Johnny Seeds are fairly reliable, and they just say to keep the seeds in the fridge for 5 days before sowing. |
