RE: Turnips - JJB - 26-06-2020 I sowed my turnips, three varieties Milan purple, snowball and petrowsky. They seemed to sprout within only a few day. Now I look at the rows and realise I may have been a bit enthusiastic with the seed, I'm not good at sowing thinly. I expect some attrition to flee beetle. Thanks for the tip about mooli Vinny, I believe I have some freebie seeds of them, might give it a try. RE: Turnips - toomanytommytoes - 26-06-2020 They don't mind being planted close together, I've been growing in clumps of 4, about 6 inches apart. Harvest the bigger ones first and let the rest fatten up. RE: Turnips - JJB - 07-09-2020 I've harvested my first ever two (perhaps the only two) turnips, cooked them simply tonight and I've decided they will be on the growing list next year. I sowed them far too thickly then neglected them, so I'm surprised I got any at all. Both Paul and I liked the taste so they'll be a good choice for next season. |
