I've googled and answered my own question, they're triggered by the weather, hot and humid sometime after rain RE: Flying Ants - Veggie - 08-07-2023 Mile long swarm of flying ants ................ https://www.itv.com/news/meridian/2023-07-08/mile-long-swarm-of-flying-ants-spotted-near-south-coast-and-more-could-be-on-way#Echobox=1688827429 RE: Flying Ants - Small chilli - 23-07-2023 Yesterday was our flying ant day RE: Flying Ants - JJB - 23-07-2023 We've had some for a couple of days. One nest was under the paving in the cold frame by a raspberry cage. The winged ants were emerging and couldn't get out. Whilst I was picking rasps and slightly camouflaged a young robin was trying g to peck at the winged ones through the glass. Just for robin I opened the coldframe and he had a lovely feast with me watching on. RE: Flying Ants - Veggie - 23-07-2023 I've just disturbed an ant's nest too and out came all the little winged beasties. Hope a robin finds them soon. RE: Flying Ants - Mark_Riga - 23-07-2023 Every time I pick up a big stone in the garden over the last few weeks there seem to be flying ants waiting for the off. |
