RE: Desert Island diet - Moth - 19-04-2022 JJB, you don't need to take salt, it's a desert island, you're surrounded by salt (water)! I'm assuming this is a very fertile desert island, growing mangoes, breadfruit, sweet potatoes, papayas, bananas, and maybe a few trees - coconut, cashew, cinnamon, allspice. So, my list: 1. kale - all sorts 2. cabbage-again, all sorts 3. beans, various 4. apples, my favourite fruit 5. chickens for eggs 6. courgettes 7. tomatoes 8. garlic 9. oats 10. sweetcorn, for cobs and to make flour Luxury has to be a cow for everything dairy. RE: Desert Island diet - Veggie - 19-04-2022 Just want to say that all of you who want a cow as a luxury item might also want a bull to do the necessary. RE: Desert Island diet - SarrissUK - 19-04-2022 1. Potatoes 2. Onion 3. Raw milk 4. Flour 5. A pregnant cow 6. A pregnant sheep 7. A pregnant pig haha 8. Tomatoes 9. Lemon 10. Pickled herring Luxury: Coffee RE: Desert Island diet - Veggie - 19-04-2022 I'm surprised you didn't want a pregnant herring. RE: Desert Island diet - JJB - 20-04-2022 I'm revising. No salt; thank you Moth, what it is to have a logical mind. Add in a bull, although I have no idea how to look after cattle. We could of course have a herd as a single item RE: Desert Island diet - PyreneesPlot - 20-04-2022 1. Flour - happy eating bread (flat, sourdough, whatever) as carbs, and I do like a pie. (Yes, building an oven will be on the list of task!) 2. Onions 3. Tomatoes 4. Kales 5. A flock of chickens - eggs & meat 6. Beans - drying and fresh 7. Chillies 8. Lemons or limes 9. Goats, two nannies and a billy - milk, cheese, butter, meat 10. Coriander for seeds and leaves Luxury - coffee without a doubt! RE: Desert Island diet - Farendwoman - 20-04-2022 Sorry - can’t join in with this. Would only want:- Crisps Chocolate Red wine Whisky Cheese (And maybe vodka!!) What a healthy person I am! RE: Desert Island diet - Farendwoman - 20-04-2022 But I do admire everyone else’s lists. I forgot coffee in mine though. RE: Desert Island diet - Veggie - 20-04-2022 No flowers, FEW. I'm rather partial to Nuts RE: Desert Island diet - Moth - 20-04-2022 (19-04-2022, 09:20 PM)Veggie Wrote: Just want to say that all of you who want a cow as a luxury item might also want a bull to do the necessary. Note I said cow, not heifer, i.e. one that has calved. I won't be needing 20 to 60 litres of milk a day, so with good care, a cow will stay in milk if milked daily, though the yield will drop. Even 2 litres a day is plenty. I'll be taking an old breed, maybe a Lincoln Red, a Red Poll, or an Ayrshire, docile and no horns. |
