RE: Is there anything that looks like a raspberry but isn't? - Scarlet - 11-04-2022 I've several varieties of autumn fruiting raspberries and none have thorns.... A few photos - some are cuttings that I took in the autumn just stuck in the ground - only just leafing up. The unpruned just have the flower buds forming. Thornless raspberry varieties include: Autumn treasure Canby Glen Lyon Glen Prosen Glen Moy Glen Ample Glen Doll Glencoe Itsaul Joan J Mammoth Red Raspberry Shortcake And varieties that have just the occasional thorns include: Cascade Delight Encore Latham Nova Polka Tulameen RE: Is there anything that looks like a raspberry but isn't? - Proserpina - 13-04-2022 (12-04-2022, 06:30 PM)Scarlet Wrote: On further investigations I've found that there's quite a choice out there that don't have any thorns and a few that have the odd one. Wow, thank you for the exhaustive list! Now I just need to work out which one(s) I have RE: Is there anything that looks like a raspberry but isn't? - Veggie - 13-04-2022 My raspberries have merged into one - maybe two types - red ones and yellow ones. I prune them all the same way, whether they started out as summer or autumn fruiters. When its brown, cut it down. If its green, leave to be seen. That's it. Easy peasy. I also had Joan j and autumn treasure. Like VC I couldn't tell you what varieties I have remaining but they are all thornless.(12-04-2022, 06:30 PM)Scarlet Wrote: On further investigations I've found that there's quite a choice out there that don't have any thorns and a few that have the odd one.
