Ive heard of rockwook but never thought much about it. Looked it up. It's made out of stone wool! Now I might be a dim, ditzy,  blonde, but even I know you can't shear a stone.  Huh I'm off to research.

Thanks TMTT, I found several like that. Fascinating stuff.

RE: The build - Small chilli - 15-11-2025

Last few days I’ve been doing more sound proofing insulation. Bathroom & hallway are 95% done. Just a few bits need doing by someone who isn’t vertically challenged. Or something else needs doing before I can finish, but mostly because I’m short.

RE: The build - Small chilli - 16-11-2025

Spare bedroom ceiling is nearly fully insulated. It’s noticeable already. Not quite so echoey in the house and we’ve still got a lot to do.
A friend came round today and helped us get the MVHR unit in the attic and hung on the wall. [attachment=8573] . We can finish connecting the up soon.

RE: The build - Small chilli - 19-11-2025

Today I put up a couple of bits of insulation. Then got annoyed because for every bit I put up now. I have to move 10 things out of the way. So I downed tools and went to the attic. Moved lots of stuff around to make space. Then started moving stuff from all over the house to the attic. Just stopped for a little break. Will be back at it in a minute. Bob will be needed for the heavy and bigger boxes. He’s past a few up to me already.

RE: The build - Small chilli - 25-11-2025

That 95% of the 75mm sound proofing insulation done. Just a little bit more in the utility room to do. Either needs plumbing stuff done or can’t reach because stuff in the way. This is the dinning room [attachment=8580] .
Still have most of the 50mm to put into the non structural walls. Which I’ll try tomorrow. But it might have to wait until there’s plaster board on one side.

RE: The build - Small chilli - 30-11-2025

Back to playing with the MVHR today.

Bob finished drilling the holes through the house. This is how thick the external walls are.  [attachment=8584] That’s the external cladding you can see.

Then Bob went through from the outside [attachment=8585] [attachment=8586] . Then he put the vent over the hole so nothing thinks that a good place to roost [attachment=8587] . Hope to finish it tomorrow morning.
