RE: What I harvested today - Can the Man - 04-07-2020 I made up a basket of plants for a friend to encourage her to start growing at home. She only has a tiny back yard but has some nice flowers and shrubs but no veggies she says she doesn’t know anything about growing them. So I potted up some kale, some cabbage, lettuce, beetroot, thyme, and turnips (swede) in individual pots and she has a metal frame that has steps on it so we used this to place pots on. I think it will work. I also gave her a lettuce leaf basil plant for the kitchen. Here’s hoping ....... RE: What I harvested today - JJB - 04-07-2020 That's so kind CTM, hope it works. Not heard of lettuce leaf basil, must look out for some seeds next year. Thanks. RE: What I harvested today - SarrissUK - 04-07-2020 I think I got some of those from Real Seeds JJB! I'm still not sure if it will taste like basil or lettuce but it will be fun to find out lol RE: What I harvested today - Mark_Riga - 04-07-2020 Peas 4kg today (10kg so far in 4 pickings at 2 day intervals). Should get about 1.5kg peas for the freezer. The wind is playing havoc with them as they have grown far taller than they should and will have to give them a bit more support somehow. Making up for the lack of broad beans. All the rain could reduce the crop as well if they develop mildew. They are far too crowded really, mainly due to the height they have reached, hurst greenshaft at about 5' tall. No mouse damage so far. Last year I did 10 pickings. |
