RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Small chilli - 18-12-2024 You’re going to come home with some frozen bacon, veggie burgers, some ready meals like lasagna or cottage pie and 3 half bags of peas. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 18-12-2024 Nice try, SC but not quite right!! Scottish salmon fillets, Monkfish, Chip shop curry fish fingers, minced beef, meatballs, frozen roast potatoes, tarka daal, (Alphabites and a couple of sausages, the dogs can have these), sourdough bread. Also, not frozen, glace cherries, Thai rice, Butterscotch golden syrup (perfect for popcorn), lentils, some interesting Turkish teas, crisps and a bag of mini Mars bars. ![]() This'll do for me for a week or so. ![]() RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Small chilli - 18-12-2024 Wow that’s a very good selection. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - JJB - 18-12-2024 It must be Christmas. No one would want the contents of my freezer clear out. The stuff would probably have hazard lables on it. ![]() RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 18-12-2024 (18-12-2024, 06:46 PM)JJB Wrote: It must be Christmas. The stuff would probably have hazard lables on it.That's the good thing about having 3 dogs that will eat anything and a hotbin that will also eat anything. Neither of them read date labels. I couldn't make any words out of the Alphabites, apart from BOY, but since the dogs can't read I could tell them anything, like "H" is for Spud and "O" is for Bessie etc. I've just eaten some Chip shop curry fish fingers (Birds Eye). They were larger than normal fishfingers with a hint of curry powder in the breadcrumb coating. OK but I wouldn't buy them. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 20-12-2024 Not quite FREE but I see that Aldi and Lidl have reduced their Christmas Veg from 15p to 8p. This is Aldi:- Carrots (1kg), Parsnips (500g), Brussels Sprouts (500g), White Potatoes (2kg), Red and White Cabbages and Broccoli for just 8p, reduced from 15p in stores from 19th December. I know I bought some today, absolutely mad. I pity the poor farmers if they are forced into these prices. I think I'm going try a roasted sprout recipe with balsamic and honey. TBH I quite like my sprouts plain but experiments are always fun. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Bren - 20-12-2024 I also bought Aldi veg most of it's been frozen for later. RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 20-12-2024 I've been offering clutter on the Free site today. So far, I have takers for 2 BT Wifi extenders that don't work with Vodaphone, an IKEA string of lights, a Personal panic alarm and an electric egg boiler. ...........and a roll of book covering plastic. Hoping to get rid of more random items but no interest yet! RE: Freecycle and similar websites - Veggie - 24-12-2024 IN today came some unwanted veg from an organic veg box - carrots, parsnips and a swede. Even though I have some of these already from the 8p supermarkets, I'm sure they'll keep for a while. ![]() |
