Its Transplant Tuesday so I potted up the Snail begonia leaf cutting and planted 4 rooted spring onions (that were FREE).
Moved the Champagne rhubarb seedlings out of the bedroom and into GH2.
Did a bit of weeding in VP2.
Sowed sweet peas from the Bargain Basement Chiltern Seeds purchase - White Ensign & Midnight.
Very cold outdoors so I didn't linger longer.

Its Wormsday so I took the bottom tier off the wormery, extracted the worms and moved them to the next level up. I've put the "wormless" tier on top of the other trays as I'm sure there are still some worms in the compost. I'll have a look tomorrow. If I can't see any, I'l take the compost away and sieve it.
I'm still a novice when it comes to wormeries!
Positioned the 3 watering cans I've just acquired under 3 of the drain taps - with a pan under the 4th one.
Another cold day So I warmed myself up by sieving hotbin compost in GH1.

Nearly finished the spare room. Today's job is to fit the new headboard which arrived yesterday, minus some fixing bolts. There was a hole in the bag and they must have fallen out. We found one on the pathway outside but one is still missing. Rang company to rant but P had some that will do. This entails getting the bed out again which is a mission in itself but will give me a chance to inspect the carpet for moths. I shortened the new curtains, then lengthened the new curtains (only pinned), tested them up on the rail, all ok. Sowed them and now one side is too long!! I tell, you, everything I touch atm goes pear shaped. P will fit the new wall mounted reading lamp whilst the bed is out, then apart from me unpicking and resewing one curtain we're done.

Planted the rescue rhubarb. Put windbreaker round all the rhubarb tyres. Split some rocks and put them round the edges of the cut flower bed. Started planting up the fence bed. Planted some snowdrops and crocus in the wildflower strip. Planted a couple more daffodils in the postbox bed.

Not gardening related, but my new- to -me,, sea fishing planning! I now have all the gear but needed to have bait to hand for a last minute foray whenever I go. To this end I have 'salted' mackeral fillets, mussels and pigs liver for a couple of days Today I bagged it up into ziplock bags and later I will be using my new baiting needles to make up some ready made cocktails ready to just slip on the hook when requierd. Cool I need to egt a move on as the trout season starts on 22nd March where I will be engrossed with freshwater fly fishing, which is a completely different sport!

Filled 3, 30ltr tubs with old compost and planted them with sprouting potatoes. Scattered beetroot "Cardeal", carrot "Amsterdam forcing" and Radish "Zlata yellow" on top - not altogether, but one variety on each pot.
Sieved some more Hotbin compost.

Another busy day. Finished planting up the fence bed. Which involved weeding and pruning the plants before planting. Also splitting pots of multiple plants and bulbs. Fighting a well established buddleia out of a fish box and separating it from the other plants, I didn’t want just at the moment. Planted some more daffodils in postbox bed. The planter the tulips were in was the big old coal scuttle. So that got fresh compost in it and was planted up with other things. Bob got 2 barrow/mini dumper loads of gravel from the beach. That’s now spread on top of the weed fabric around the rhubarb tyres.

I brought in a small tray of compost a couple of days ago to warm up in the kitchen, intending to sow some lobelia. Went to find the seeds yesterday and, guess what, no lobelia. Par for the course atm. So I sowed rust resistant antirrhinum instead. Windowsill wars have commenced, but are in the negotiation stage. A fragile truce has been declared in the short term. Smile Hopefully I’ll get some lobelia whilst I'm out today.
