RE: 2025 doing something new / different - Small chilli - 18-06-2025 I made my first coffee cake today and made my first raspberry frosting (for a different cake, luckily because that would have been horrible ![]() RE: 2025 doing something new / different - JJB - 19-06-2025 (18-06-2025, 09:38 PM)Small chilli Wrote: I made my first coffee cake today and made my first raspberry frosting (for a different cake, luckily because that would have been horrible We're both rather partial to both of those, P & I will be round for coffee and cake later. If you google it, the American coffee cake is something completely different. Their's is a 'a cake to have with coffee' not a coffee flavoured cake. It's usually a moist cinnamon based slab sponge topped in a crumble topping. Quite nice too. It was good to see all the butterflies and bees on the plants and there's a natural stream, running through the garden centre, so a constant sound of running water. Very relaxing. There was nothing that leaped out at my, shouting "Buy me" so I kept my hands in my pockets and left. They had display borders of pollinator friendly perennials which were attractive but I'd need to plan ahead for something like that. Maybe another visit in autumn? RE: 2025 doing something new / different - Small chilli - 18-07-2025 Today I’ve had my very first fried egg flavoured crisps. It’s messes with your head a bit. They really do taste like fried egg. And are actually really quite nice. Proof the are a real thing [attachment=8384] RE: 2025 doing something new / different - Can the Man - 19-07-2025 (18-06-2025, 09:38 PM)Small chilli Wrote: I made my first coffee cake today and made my first raspberry frosting (for a different cake, luckily because that would have been horribleI do love coffee cake, especially with roasted walnuts through the cake and come roasted chopped hazelnuts sprinkled n top for good measure. RE: 2025 doing something new / different - Veggie - 22-07-2025 [attachment=8389] I used the cherry/olive stoner on the garlic press to remove all the stones from the cherry plums I was given last week. Truth is, I never realised that the little pokey thing on the garlic press was for removing stones - I've only had it about 20 years!! RE: 2025 doing something new / different - JJB - 23-07-2025 I can understand that, my garlic press doesn't have one. In the depths of the evil utensil drawer there is a plastic cherry stoner that I might have used twice in 50 yrs. Shows how useful they are. It'll probably be another 50 before it's used again. |
