RE: Special Offers - Veggie - 21-11-2025

I'm horrified at the price of very ordinary seeds now.

RE: Special Offers - Veggie - 21-11-2025

D T Brown 50% off https://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/collections/50-off-seed-sale

Mr F 50% off https://mr-fothergills.co.uk/collections/50-off-seed-sale

(Probably the same on both sites?)

RE: Special Offers - JJB - 22-11-2025

It's raining today so it might be a case of seed sorting and checking what new seeds I need to take advantage of these supposed bargains. I'm really disappointed in Premier Seeds, they used to be my go to for veg seeds, but not so much any more.

This is generally the way things go when investors take over a company. It's the same with DT Brown/Fothergills getting bought out by a private equity firm. They want a return on their money, so they will look to reduce costs and increase prices. Private equity has been gobbling up gardening companies and vets since COVID. I wouldn't be surprised to see Premier Seeds' prices to reach £2 per packet in a few years. They will still be cheaper than the usual suspects, but no where near the bargain they used to be.

Any news on Nuts n Cones? They haven't had any offers for ages!
Seed Parade is still quite cheap and their seeds seem OK.

Seeds do seem to be getting a lot dearer: the organic catalogue has moneymaker tomato seeds, 28% off only £2.49 for 10 seeds. Ideally, stick to heirloom seeds and save as  many as you can. The main ones I don't save at the moment are the cabbage family, beetroot, lettuce, parsnips and squash, may be a couple more. Premier still look good to me at the moment e.g. Detroit beetroot £1.19 for 10g. which would keep me in beetroot for a few years.

The Organic Gardening Catalogue is part of Dobies, which, along with Suttons was acquired by T&M. All the same company, same seeds, same rip-offs.
