Growing Festive veggies - Challenge. - Veggie - 28-07-2022

Just had a totally daft idea (for a change).
I'm wondering if it possible to grow enough veggies for The festive season (can't say the C word in July) in pots in the GH.
A pot of spuds, beans, peas, carrots maybe even sprouts or a red cabbage.
If I start them outdoors in pots and move them into the GH when the weather turns into winter it may be possible, maybe.
Whatever I find in my pots will be my Festive meal. Big Grin

I always try and grow at least a few of the festive dinner veggies. Huh

These will be out of season veggies. I'll grow salad and tomatoes too.

Toying with putting a CFB seed in each tomato pot in the GH and try to train the bean up the tomato cane alongside the tomato. As the tomato plant finishes, the bean can take over its position - that's the theory but I know there are lots of reasons why it shouldn't work ..............but I don't care. I'm going to do it anyway. Big Grin

It's unlikely the tender stuff will survive here because of frost but carrots and spuds might work, I'm not going to bother though, I'll watch V succeed and amaze us with her expertise and the Welsh weather Smile

You have 2 GHs, - less of the excuses and try it! If you don't try, you won't know. Big Grin

Bijou got frosted 2 yrs running, what chance do you think CFBs have, don't grow spuds, don't eat enough of them and my overwintered carrots were a bit dodgy.  Might try carrots again, so I'd better get some sown in a bucket. You're a hard task master V.  Tongue

How about DFBs - easier to throw a fleece over. Lettuce for your salad?

Lettuce in winter......not likely in this house Smile I see where you're going with DFBs, I actually have a rogue CFB climbing up a tomato as we speak, I might just let it do its thing.
